Walters State’s Tim Tyler named NJCAA and TCCAA Baseball Pitcher of the Week
MORRISTOWN, TN – Tim Tyler has been outstanding for Walters State to start the season and was recognized for his effort.
On Tuesday, Tyler was named the TCCAA Pitcher of the Week, and on Wednesday, he was awarded the NJCAA DI Pitcher of the Week. The Pitcher of the Week award recognized his efforts during the first three weeks of the season.
Tyler has made three appearances to open up the season, two starts and a relief outing, and is 3-0. Tyler has thrown eight innings, allowing no runs and just two hits. He has 13 strikeouts and a 14.63 K/9.
After two starts and two wins against USC Salkehatchie, Tyler's best performance came this past weekend against No. 3 Florida SouthWestern. Throwing in relief, Tyler pitched three innings and allowed no runs and a lone hit. Up 7-4 in the final inning but with runners on second and third and one out, Tyler struck out back-to-back batters to end the game and collect the win.
Tyler has helped lead Walters State to a 7-2 start to the season.
Tyler and the Senators are back in action on Thursday, opening conference play on the road against Pellissippi State. Thursday's doubleheader is scheduled to start at 12 pm ET.
