No. 4 Walters State slugs past Motlow State, 21-10
TULLAHOMA, TN – The No. 4 Walters State offense picked up where it left off on Friday afternoon, scoring 21 runs on 20 hits to complete the series sweep over Motlow State with a 21-10 win in seven innings.
With the win, the Senators improved to 14-2 overall and 6-0 in TCCAA play.
Much like games one and two, it was an offensive onslaught for the Senators on Friday. Over the three games, Walters State scored 51 runs and hit 13 home runs.
On Friday, Drew Blalock led the way with four hits, a home run and six RBIs. Kenny Cox homered and had five RBIs, and Kole Fenton went 4-5 with four runs scored. Other home runs came from Holden Pantier, who had three hits and four RBIs, Brady Dalton and Luke Graham.
On the mound, Major Osbolt (2-0) got the start and threw 2.2 innings. Osbolt gave up five runs on six hits and struck out seven. Brady Scott replaced Osbolt with two outs in the third and threw the next 3.1 innings, allowing five runs on nine hits while striking out four, and Ryan Smith closed things down with two strikeouts in the seventh.
Walters State scored three runs in the first inning, as Fenton scored on a wild pitch and Blalock smacked a 2-run home run. Motlow tied the game with a 3-run home run in the bottom of the first, but Graham and Pantier both smacked 2-run homers in the second to give the Senators a 7-3 lead.
In the third, the offense continued for Walters State as Dalton hit a two-run shot, Blalock walked with the bases loaded to score Graham and Cox doubled in two runs to make it 12-3. Motlow cut into the lead with two runs in the third, but Walters State got both runs back in the fourth when Jaxon Walker doubled home Dalton and Pantier flew out but scored Walker to make it 14-5.
Cox kept the scoring going in the fifth, smoking a 2-run home run, but Motlow answered back in the bottom half of the inning with three runs to make it 16-8. The Senators scored two in the sixth on a Blalock RBI single and Cox sacrifice fly, but Motlow hit a 2-run home run in the bottom of the inning to make it 18-10.
In the seventh, the Senators capped off the scoring with three runs as Pantier singled home Graham and Blalock doubled in Blair and Pantier to make it 21-10.
