MORRISTOWN, TN – No. 2 Walters State dropped a 6-3 contest to Chattanooga State in game one on Saturday, but took the series with a 9-4 win in game two.
With the split, the Senators moved to 16-3 overall and 8-1 in TCCAA play.
GAME ONE: Chattanooga State 6, No. 2 Walters State 3
In game one, a five-run second inning for Chattanooga State proved to be the difference.
On the mound, Major Osbolt (2-1) got the start and threw five innings. Osbolt gave up five runs, all five runs were unearned, and struck out five. Bridger Hamilton replaced Osbolt and threw 1.1 innings, allowing a run while striking out one, and Ryan Perkins got the final two outs.
At the plate, Kole Fenton and Luke Graham each homered. Jaxon Walker added two hits.
Chattanooga State scored five runs in the second, and 5-0 was the score until the bottom of the fifth. In the fifth, Walker singled with two outs, and Fenton drove them both home with a two-run shot.
However, the Tigers got a run back in the top of the seventh to make it 6-2. Graham led off the bottom of the inning with a solo home run, but that was all.
GAME TWO: No. 2 Walters State 9, Chattanooga State 4
In game two, the Senators scored nine runs on nine hits to win the series.
Drew Blalock, Miles Shore and Braeden Trajkovski all homered in the game, and Blalock drove in four runs.
On the mound, Tim Tyler (6-0) got the start and threw four innings. Tyler gave up four runs on five hits and struck out six. Lane Sharp pitched the final three innings and picked up his second save of the season. Sharp allowed no runs on three hits and struck out three.
The Senators wasted no time getting on the board, as Blalock and Shore both smacked two-run home runs and Trajkovski hit a solo shot that made it 5-0. Chattanooga State got three runs in the second and one in the fourth to cut things to 5-4, but Walters State scored four more times in the bottom of the fourth. Jackson Berry led off the inning with a walk and moved to second on a Walker single. The bases were loaded when Fenton walked, and Holden Pantier was hit by a pitch and scored Berry. Blalock was the next batter, and he singled to score Walker and Fenton to make it 8-4. The final run came on a Brady Dalton sacrifice fly that scored Pantier.
From there, Sharp shut down the Tigers, and the Senators took the win.

Walters State is back in action next weekend, traveling to take on Southwest Tennessee. Friday's doubleheader is scheduled to begin at 1 pm ET.
