Senators win NJCAA DII Southeast District Tournament, punch ticket to national tournament
BRISTOL, VA – Walters State claimed the NJCAA DII Southeast District Championship on Tuesday afternoon, punching their ticket to the NJCAA DII Golf Tournament in the process.
It's Walters State's fifth Southeast District Championship and will be their 28th time at the national tournament.
The Senators shot 19-over in their final round on Tuesday to finish the tournament at 17-over. Roane State finished in second place at 19-over.
Leading the way for Walters State was Bowen Brantley with a fourth place finish at even-par. Brantley shot 3-over in his final round with birdies on the seventh, ninth, 10th and 13 holes.
Nick Talley was second for the Senators, finishing in sixth place at 6-over. Talley shot 6-over on Tuesday, birdieing the sixth, ninth and 14th holes.
Next up for Walters State were Sloan Brooks and Alex Gaetz in a tie for 10th at 9-over. Brooks shot 8-over in his final round with birdies on the second and ninth holes. Meanwhile, Gaetz shot 5-over in his final round with birdies on the first, ninth and 12th.
Rounding out the team was Blake Woody in 13th place at 10-over. Woody shot five-over in his final round with birdies on the second and 13th holes.
Cleveland State's Andrew Mccarver won the tournament at 5-under.
