Senators compete in opening day of NJCAA DII Golf Championship
PLYMOUTH, IN – Walters State battled cold, wind and rain in the opening round of the NJCAA DII Golf Championship on Tuesday at Swan Lake Resort.
The opening round went through two delays and was called due to darkness. The Senators finished their round, sitting in a tie for 10th at 17-over.
Leading the way for the Senators was Bowen Brantley with a 3-over, 75. Brantley shot 4-over on the front nine but birdied 15 and 16 to shoot 1-under on the back nine. Brantley is in 28th place.
Along with Brantley, Blake Woody finished with a 4-over, 76. Woody shot 3-over on the front nine but had birdies on the 12th and 15th holes on the back nine. Woody is in 44th place.
Finishing in a tie for third for Walters State were Nick Talley and Alex Gaetz, shooting 5-over, 77. Talley birdied the sixth and 15th holes in his round. Meanwhile, Gaetz birdied the fourth hole and 15th holes. Both are in a tie for 55th place.
Sloan Brooks finished in fifth for the Senators at six-over, 78. Brooks birdied the first hole and then the 172 yard par-3 eighth hole. Brooks is in 68th place.

The Senators will tee it up on Wednesday in the second round of the NJCAA DII Golf Championship at Swan Lake Resort. The first tee time for the Senators is scheduled for 9:24 am ET.
