Senators finish 13th at NJCAA DII Golf Championship
PLYMOUTH, IN – Walters State closed out the NJCAA DII Golf Championship on Friday, finishing in 13th place.
In the final round on Friday, Walters State shot 24-over to finish the tournament at 82-over.
Leading the way for the Senators was Blake Woody with a 34th place finish at 18-over. Woody shot 4-over in his final round with birdies on the fifth, 11th and 15th holes.
Along with Woody, Sloan Brooks finished in 41st place at 20-over. Brooks shot his best round of the week on Friday, finishing at 2-over for the round. Brooks birdied hole six and had 14 pars in his round.
Finishing third for Walters State was Bowen Brantley in 56th at 25-over. Brantley shot 10-over in his final round with a birdie on the par 5 fifth.
Rounding out the team were Alex Gaetz and Jonas Rayfield. Gaetz finished the tournament in 76th place at 28-over after shooting 8-over on Friday. Gaetz birdied the first and third holes, before finishing strong with birdies on the 15th and the difficult par 5 18th. Meanwhile, Rayfield shot 11-over on Friday with birdies on five and 15.
The Senators closed the season winning one tournament in the fall and four in the spring, including the Region and District Tournaments. Bowen Brantley won two tournaments during the season, while Nick Talley took home a win in the fall.
