Ayden Smith, Senators lead the Bill Gardner Fall Preview
MORRISTOWN, TN – Ayden Smith made nine birdies in Monday's opening round of the Bill Gardner Fall Preview at The Country Club in Morristown and leads the tournament at 3-under.
As a team, Walters State is also in first place at 4-over. The Senators lead by 12 shots over Roane State.
Leading the way for Walters State, Smith shot 1-under on the front nine and birdied the first, third, seventh and ninth holes. Smith birdied hole 11 to get rolling on the back nine and then had four straight birdies on holes 14, 15, 16 and 17. Smith shot 2-under on the back nine.
Along with Smith, Alex Gaetz and Maddox Butler are tied for fourth at 2-over. Both started on the opening hole of the course and birdied. Butler then birdied the second hole, while Gaetz birdied the fourth hole. On the back nine, Gaetz had birdies on holes 13 and 16 while Butler birdied the 17th hole.
In fourth for Walters State is Greyson Smith in ninth place at 3-over. Smith birdied hole number one and then holed out for eagle on the par 4 11th. Smith also birdied the 605-yard par 5 15th.
Rounding out the team was Brant Kardatzke in 27th place at 9-over. Kardatzke had birdies on the first, fourth and 11th holes.
Walters State also has a B Team playing in the tournament, and they sit in fourth place at 24-over.
Leading the way for them is Bryce Guinn in ninth place at 3-over. Guinn birdied the first, third and fourth holes.
Along with Guinn, Austin Williams is in 16th place at five over and Blake Dawson is in 22nd at 7-over. Williams and Dawson both birdied the first hole, while Dawson also birdied the third and 16th holes.
Rounding out the team were Owen King in 27th at nine-over and Tucker Mclain in 40th at 13-over. King birdied the 10th and 12th holes.
Playing as an individual, Bo Atkins is in 32nd place at 10-over. Atkins' lone birdie came on the sixth hole.
