Senators finish tied for third at Atomic City Classic
OAK RIDGE, TN – Walters State had a 10-shot improvement on Tuesday in the final round of the Atomic City Classic at Oak Ridge Country Club and finished in a tie for third place.
As a team, the Senators shot 3-over in their final round and finished the tournament at 16-over. Walters State tied with Lake Sumter.
Leading the way for Walters State in the tournament was Maddox Butler in sixth place at 2-over. Butler shot 2-over in his final round on Tuesday, birdieing the fourth, seventh, ninth, 10th and 13th holes. Butler shot 1-under on the front nine.
Also finishing in the top 10 for Walters State was Blake Dawson in ninth place at 3-over. Dawson was the low score for the Senators in the final round, shooting 1-under. Dawson shot 3-under on the front nine, with birdies on the first, fifth and ninth holes. Dawson then birdied the 16th and 18th holes on the back nine.
Finishing in 14th place for the Senators was Greyson Smith at 4-over. Smith shot even-par on Tuesday and had birdies on the second, seventh, ninth, 11th and 14th holes.
Rounding out the team for Walters State were Alex Gaetz in 27th place at 7-over and Brant Kardatzke in 41st place at 11-over. Gaetz shot 2-over on Tuesday and birdied the first and 12th holes, while Kardatzke shot 4-over and birdied the 14th and 18th holes.
Playing as an individual, Ayden Smith finished in 22nd place at 6-over. Smith shot 1-over on Tuesday and birdied the first, ninth and 16th holes. Austin Williams also played as an individual and came in 29th place at 8-over. Williams shot 4-over, birdieing the seventh hole.
