Butler shoots three-under to lead Senators in round two of NJCAA DII Golf Championship
PLYMOUTH, IN – Maddox Butler made seven birdies in round two of the NJCAA DII Golf Championship at Swan Lake Resort on Wednesday, and Walters State moved up three spots in the standings.
As a team, Walters State shot 12-over for the round and sit in 20th place at 42-over.
Butler led the way with a three-under round, totaling four birdies on the front-nine and three on the back-nine. Butler had back-to-back birdies on holes two and three and eight and nine on the front-nine and birdied the 12th, 17th and 18th holes on the back-nine. Butler is in a tie for 19th place, jumping 66 spots from Tuesday.
Along with Butler, Ayden Smith shot four-over and is in a tie for 53rd place at seven-over. In his second round, Smith birdied the fifth and 15th holes.
Next for the Senators was Alex Gaetz in a tie for 94th place at 14-over. Gaetz shot four-over on Wednesday and birdied the 12th and 18th holes.
Rounding out the team were Greyson Smith and Blake Dawson. Smith is in a tie for 115th place at 21-over after shooting eight-over in round two. Smith birdied holes five, seven and 12. Meanwhile, Dawson is in a tie for 107th place at 19-over after shooting nine-over in round two. Dawson birdied the 10th and 13th holes.

Walters State is back in action on Thursday for round three of the NJCAA DII Golf Championship at Swan Lake Resort. The Senators will begin teeing off at 7:54 am ET.
