Senators in 18th after third round of NJCAA DII Golf Championship
PLYMOUTH, IN – Walters State moved up two spots on Thursday in round three of the NJCAA DII Golf Championship at Swan Lake Resort.
As a team, the Senators shot 21-over and now sit at 63-over for the tournament. That score is good enough for 18th place.
Ayden Smith led the way for Walters State, shooting two-over. Smith birdied the sixth hole and went bogey-free on the back-nine, with birdies on holes 10 and 15. He's in a tie for 35th in the tournament at nine-over.
Along with Smith, Alex Gaetz shot four-over on Thursday and is in a tie for 82nd at 18-over. Gaetz opened the day with birdies on the second, fifth and eighth holes, and he birdied the 15th hole, as well.
Next for the Senators on Thursday was Maddox Butler. Butler shot seven-over in his round and birdied the second and 11th holes. He's in a tie for 40th at 10-over.
Rounding out the team were Blake Dawson and Greyson Smith. Dawson shot eight-over in round three and is in a tie for 106th at 27-over. Dawson birdied the 15th hole. Meanwhile, Smith shot nine-over on Thursday and is in a tie for 109th at 30-over.

Walters State closes out the season on Friday in the final round of the NJCAA DII Championship at Swan Lake Resort. The Senators will begin teeing off at 8:39 am ET.
