Gage Slagle named USTFCCCA Men’s NJCAA DII National Athlete of the Week 

MORRISTOWN, TN – Through the first half of his freshman season at Walters State, Gage Slagle has made a name for himself throughout the state of Tennessee.

Now, he's being recognized on a national level.

On Monday, Slagle was named the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Men's NJCAA DII National Athlete of the Week. Slagle is the second cross country student-athlete in Walters State history to receive the honor, as Brando Resendiz earned it in 2022. 

The recognition comes following a top 10 finish for Slagle at the Twilight at John Hunt Park. Slagle finished Friday's race with a time of 26:27, his fastest 8k time of the season. It was Slagle's fourth top 10 finish of the season. He was the top JUCO finisher in the race. 

Slagle helped lead the 20th-ranked Senators to a sixth place finish out of 18 teams. 

Slagle and the Senators will be back in action on Friday, hosting the Walters State Half Marathon at 5 pm ET.
