Senators, Lady Senators finish second at Region 7 Championship
KNOXVILLE, TN – Both the Walters State men's and women's cross country teams finished in second place at the Region 7 Championship on Friday morning.
For the Lady Senators, Katie Calkins led the way with a second place finish in the 5k race. Calkins finished with a time of 19:57, a PR by 47 seconds, and her second place finish earned her All-Conference honors.
Also earning All-Conference honors was Aislynn Hurley in sixth place. Hurley finished with a time of 21:10, a PR for her as well. Allie Swann was next for the Lady Senators, finishing in ninth place with a time of 22:50, and Chloe Williford finished in 14th with a time of 24:42. Rounding out the team was Carmen Sedighi in 19th with a time of 28:55.
On the men's side, All-Conference honors went to both Gavin and Gage Slagle. Gavin Slagle led the charge for the Senators, finishing in second place with a time of 26:31. Gage Slagle was close behind, coming in fourth place with a time of 27:16.
Next for Walters State was Evan Miller, and he came in ninth place with a time of 27:56. Edgar Martinez was the fourth finisher for the Senators, coming in 14th place with a time of 29:41, and David Baker finished in 18th place with a time of 29:58.
Rounding out the team for Walters State were Sam Runyan in 20th place with a time of 31:41, Parker Minor in 26th place with a time of 35:54 and Walter Kledzik in 27th place with a time of 39:56.
