GAME ONE: Walters State 13, Snead State 3 (6 Innings)
In the opener, Addison Beech was a perfect 4-4 at the plate with a home run, three runs and two RBIs, and the Lady Senators picked up the win.
Along with Beech, Alayna Ross hit a grand slam, and Nyah Mullins smacked a three-run home run. Allie Seritt and Brenna Hunley had two hits each, as well.
In the circle, Lauren Ruehl got the start and faced two batters before Summer Smith took over and pitched the final six innings. Smith allowed three runs on seven hits and picked up the win.
The Lady Senators started quick in the game, as Beech led off with a single, moved to second on a Jordan Pena walk and scored when Mullins smoked a three-run home run. Walters State added one more run in the first when Hunley walked and scored on an error.
In the second, the Lady Senators tacked on four more runs. Beech again led things off with a single, moved to second on a Pena single and to third on a Mullins walk. That brought up Ross, and she scored them with a ball over the fence in left that made it 8-0.
Snead picked up a run in the third and one in the fourth, but Walters State struck back in the sixth with five runs. Those runs came on a Seritt RBI single, a Camryn Allen two-RBI single and a Beech two-run home run. Snead scored one run in the bottom of the inning, but that was all as Walters State took the run-rule victory.
