Blayre Shultz named NJCAA Womens’s All-American
MORRISTOWN, TN – Walters State's Blayre Shultz capped off a successful sophomore season on Tuesday afternoon as she was named a NJCAA 2nd team All-American.
Shultz becomes the first Lady Senator earning All-American honors since Dulcy Fankam Mendijiadeu was named a 2nd team All-American in 2018. She is the 27th All-American named in Walters State history. Shultz was also named the 2021 TCCAA/Region VII Women's Player of the Year for the east side of the conference as well as a member of the All-TCCAA/Region VII First Team.
A Morristown native, Shultz lit up the floor during the 2020-21 season. Shultz averaged 18.7 points per game and scored in double figures in every game this season. On Feb. 29, Shultz scored a career high 29 points in a victory on the road at Chattanooga State.
Shultz was the leader on the Lady Senators team that finished 13-4, winning the TCCAA/Region VII Tournament and advancing to the 2021 NJCAA Tournament.
Shultz was joined on the second team by Northwest Florida State's Chanaya Pinto, Eastern Arizona's Catarina Ferriera, South Georgia Tech's Moe Shida, Barton's Queen Ulabo, Salt Lake's Awe Sidibe, Trinity Valley's Kaye Clark, Wabash Valley's Jazmyn Turner, Iowa Western's Gabriella Smith and Casper's Natalia Otkhmezuri.
The All-America selections are made by the NJCAA Division I Women's Basketball Committee.
