Lady Senators fall on the road to Chattanooga State
CHATTANOOGA, TN – Kiera Hill scored 24 points; however, it wasn't enough as Walters State fell on the road to Chattanooga State, 55-52.
The Lady Senators had a chance at the buzzer to send the game to overtime but a Rose Morrow 3-pointer was off.
With the loss, Walters State falls to 10-5 on the season and are 8-1 in conference play.
Hill led the team with 24 points, scoring 11 points in the first quarter.
Along with Hill, Morrow had four, Maiya Reed had eight, Ryann Woodley and Izarria Alexander four each, Elizabeth Chambers with two and Germariona Hollingsworth with six.
With Hill leading the way with 11 points, it was a quick start for Walters State in the opening quarter, and they led 17-12.
In the second, the Lady Senators continued to hold a slim margin as they managed just 10 points. It was 27-25 at the break.
The third quarter was more of the same as Walters State played solid defense, holding the Lady Tigers to just nine points in the 10 minutes, and led by seven heading to the final quarter.
Unfortunately for the Lady Senators in the fourth, Chattanooga State got hot on offense and took the lead. The Lady Senators had chances at the end but could not capitalize.

Walters State will be back in action on Saturday at home against Columbia State. Tip is set for 2 p.m.
