Griffin wins TCCAA Player of the Year and Offensive Player of the Year, Coleman named Coach of the Year
GALLATIN, TN – Walters State's Terryauna Griffin was named the TCCAA Player of the Year and Offensive Player of the Year on Sunday, and Jasmin Coleman was named the Coach of the Year.
Additionally, Griffin, Nyjah Gibbs and Raegan Starks earned All-TCCAA First Team honors.
Griffin was named TCCAA Co-Offensive and Freshman of the Year last year and followed it up with another impressive season in 2025-26. Griffin led the league, and is third in the country, in points per game, averaging 21.7. Griffin scored 563 points in 26 games, made 54 3-pointers and totaled 71 steals.
On February 18, Griffin broke the Walters State All-Time scoring record, and she currently sits at 1,100 points. During her sophomore season, Griffin scored double digits in 24 of 26 games, 20+ points in 12 games and 30+ points in eight games. Griffin had a stretch from January 14 to February 7 where she totaled 160 points in five games.
Coleman was named Coach of the Year for the fifth time in her six-year coaching career. This season, Coleman's Lady Senators went 24-2, with both losses coming to top-ranked teams, and finished a perfect 20-0 in TCCAA play. It's the first time Walters State has finished unbeaten in TCCAA play since the 2018-19 season. The Lady Senators were TCCAA Regular Season Champions and are currently the No. 4 ranked team in the country.
Gibbs was named All-TCCAA First Team after leading the conference in field goal percentage. Gibbs shot 54.6% from the field and made 171 field goals. She averaged 16.5 points and eight rebounds per game. Gibbs also finished second in the conference with 119 offensive rebounds and fifth in the conference with 23 blocks.
Meanwhile, Starks was named to the First Team after averaging 13.1 points and 8.7 rebounds per game. Starks grabbed 227 rebounds on the season and shot 77.5% from the charity stripe. Starks had 49 steals on the season, as well.
