Jordan Moore named Region 7 Player of the Year; Sweigart on All-Region team

CHATTANOOGA, TN – There haven't been many players come through the Walters State volleyball program that have made the impact Jordan Moore has in her two years playing for the Lady Senators.

On Friday at the Region 7 Volleyball Tournament, Moore was rewarded for the hard work and effort she has put in. 

Moore was named the Region 7 Player of the Year after dominating all competition during the 2022 season. She is the first Region 7 Player of the Year for Walters State since Olivia Oxendine earned the honor in 2020.

Along with Moore's honor, both Moore and Mackenzie Sweigart were named to the All-Region 7 team. It's Sweigart's second time being named to the All-Region team. 

After being named to the All-Region team last season, Moore stepped her game up during the 2022 season. Moore totaled 226 kills, 95 in region play, and averaged 2.97 kills per set, 3.28 in region play. Moore was third in the Region in both stats. 

Moore led the league in hitting percentage at .346, total blocks at 73 and blocks per set at 0.96. 

Moore had double digit kills in 12 of 25 matches during the season. Her biggest night of the season came against Cape Fear when she totaled 21 kills. Moore has been strong to end the season as well with 13 kills against Catawba, 15 against Roane State and 13 against Bryan College JV. 

Along with Moore, Sweigart has also been huge for the Lady Senators this season. In 25 matches, Sweigart was fifth in the region in kills and kills per set with 157 and 2.24. Sweigart was fourth in hitting percentage at .254 and fourth in blocks per set at 0.67. 

Other members on the All-Region team were Mollie McCoy and Rylee McDaniel at Chattanooga State and Keely Stilwill and Whitney Thompson at Roane State. McCoy was also named the Freshman of the Year while Chatt State coach Kristie Lenoir was named the Coach of the Year.
