Campbell awarded TCCAA Player of the Year, Blaylock named Coach of the Year

MORRISTOWN, TN – Alyssa Campbell was named the TCCAA Volleyball Player of the Year on Friday, while head coach Megan Blaylock was named Coach of the Year.

Along with Campbell, Jaci Drinnon and Lauren Mims were named to the All-TCCAA First Team. Mattie Davis was named to the All-TCCAA Second Team. 

Campbell earned the honor after a phenomenal freshman season. Campbell finished the year with 189 kills, a .292 hitting percentage, averaged over two kills per set and had 76 total blocks. Campbell ranked first in the conference in hitting percentage, total blocks and blocks per set at 0.84, fifth in kills and eighth in kills per set.

Rounding out the special awards was Walters State's Megan Blaylock as Coach of the Year. Blaylock led Walters State to a 22-7 record and 7-1 record in TCCAA Play. The Lady Senators were Conference Regular Season Champs and the No.1 seed in the Region 7 Tournament. 

It's Blaylock's fifth time being named TCCAA Coach of the Year. 

Drinnon was named to the All-TCCAA First Team after a successful regular season. Drinnon led the conference with an absurd 573 digs, almost 200 more than second in the conference. Drinnon was first in receptions with 583, second in digs per set at 5.97, and sixth in service aces with 31. She also was ninth in the conference with 131 assists. 

Mims was also named All-TCCAA First Team. Mims was fourth in the conference with 282 digs, sixth in kills with 186, sixth in kills per set with 2.21, sixth in receptions with 346 and sixth in points with 223.5. 

Named All-TCCAA Second Team, Davis was seventh in the conference in kills with 183. She averaged 2.20 kills per set and was fifth in the conference in blocks with 47. Davis was eighth in the conference with 208 points.
