Walters State Cross Country hosts annual half marathon

MORRISTOWN, TN – Walters State hosted their annual half marathon on Friday evening, and the Senators and Lady Senators had a strong showing. 

Leading the way for Walters State in the half marathon were the Slagle brothers. Narrowly finishing ahead of his brother, Gavin Slagle finished in second place with a time of 1:20:52. Gavin's brother Gage Slagle came in third place in the race and finished with a time of 1:21:30. 

In sixth place in the half marathon was Evan Miller, finishing with a time of 1:24:12 and David Baker came in eighth place with a time of 1:27:27. Rounding out the men for Walters State were Sam Runyan in 11th place with a time of 1:35:31 and Parker Minor in 18th place with a time of 2:01:54. 

For the Lady Senators, Aislynn Hurley was the lone runner and she finished in 16th place with a time of 1:49:05. Hurley finished in third place out of the women who ran in the half marathon.

Up Next:

Walters State will be back in action next Thursday at the Warhawk Invitational in Oakville, AL. The women will run at 4:30 pm, with the men to follow at 5 pm.
