Senators finish 11th at NJCAA National Half Marathon Championships
FORT DODGE, IA – The Walters State cross country team closed out its season on Tuesday with its highest finish in program history on the men's side at the NJCAA National Half Marathon Championships.
For the Senators, they finished in 11th place, eight places better than the program's previous best finish. Leading the way for Walters State was Gavin Slagle in 29th place with a time of 1:10:59. Slagle's time broke the school record by almost six minutes.
Along with Gavin Slagle, Gage Slagle finished in 45th place with a time of 1:12:58. Evan Miller was next for the Senators in 88th place with a time of 1:17:11, and Edgar Martinez came in 163rd place with a time of 1:24:50. David Baker rounded out the Senators' team with a 169th place finish and time of 1:25:46.
For the Lady Senators, they finished in 22nd place. Katie Calkins led the way with a 72nd place finish and a time of 1:37:54. Aislynn Hurley was next, and she came in 121st place with a time of 1:54:57. Rounding out the team were Chloe Williford in 125th place with a time of 1:56:54 and Allie Swann in 127th place with a time of 2:00:00.
