All 12 score for No. 14 Walters State in 113-65 win over Jackson State
MORRISTOWN, TN – No. 14 Walters State saw scoring from all 12 individuals on Saturday afternoon against Jackson State, and the Senators went on for a 113-65 win over the Green Jays.
With the win, Walters State improved to 17-1 on the season and 9-1 in TCCAA play.
Da'Mori Lytch led the way for the Senators in the game, scoring 17 points, and Carter Webb added 14 points. Taquez Butler finished with 13 points, as well, and Jamar Livingston had 11 points. Other scorers for the Senators were Tyrese Stovall with 10 points, Trae Rideau with nine points, Jaquavious Wallace with nine points, Caiden Bauldwin with eight points, Brian Carter with eight points, Jayden Nesbitt with eight points, Malaki Brooks with three points and Jaceion Coffey with three points.
Walters State started slow in the game and led 6-5 six minutes into the game. Lytch broke the Senators out of the slump with a free throw, and he hit two more after Nesbitt made a basket. The lead got to 15-7 following two free throws from Stovall, and it was 19-7 after Bauldwin laid one in.
However, Jackson State would not go away and cut things to 21-15 with eight minutes to go in the half. The lead was 23-16, but Lytch scored and Webb added five straight to get the lead to double digits. A Livingston layup, Lytch basket and Wallace dunk got the lead to 36-18, and Butler hit a three to cap off another run that made it a 43-20 game. Walters State scored seven points in the final minute of the half and, when Butler's 3-pointer with 15 seconds left found the bottom of the net, it was 50-25.
In the second half, Livingston started things with a 3-pointer. Lytch then scored four points in a minute span to get the lead to 59-29, and Brooks hit a three three minutes later that made it a 66-35 game. The lead kept increasing and was 71-38 when Lytch scored with 11:43 to go.
Jackson State scored four straight after the Lytch basket, but Livingston hit a three, Webb hit back-to-back 3-pointers, and Butler scored five straight to make it 85-44. From there, Walters State kept the pace going and cruised to the win.
In the final 20 minutes of play, Webb and Livingston each hit three 3-pointers while Lytch, Carter and Bauldwin each scored six points. Butler hit a 3-pointer and had seven points in the second half, and Rideau added five points.
