COHUTTA, GA – Walters State is in third place after the first 36 holes of the Cleveland State Invitational on Monday at Nob North Golf Course.

As a team, Walters State shot 31-over. The Senators were 11-over in round one and shot 20-over in round two. 

Leading the way is Greyson Smith in 11th place at five-over. Smith shot one-over in round one, birdieing holes seven, 10 and 12, and followed it up with a 76, four-over, in round two. Smith birdied the sixth hole again in his second round, as well as the third and 18th holes. 

In 19th place in the tournament is Maddox Butler at seven-over. Butler shot four-over in his first round, with a birdie on the third hole. In round two, Butler was a shot better, shooting a 75, and birdied the fourth, sixth, 13th and 14th holes. 

Next for the Senators is Ayden Smith in 21st place at eight-over. Smith shot the second-best score for Walters State in round one, two-over. Smith shot one-under on the front nine, birdieing the fourth, sixth and seventh holes. In round two, Smith shot six-over and had two birdies, on the eighth and 12th holes. 

Rounding out the team were Blake Dawson in 28th place at 11-over and Alex Gaetz in 44th place at 15-over. Dawson shot four-over in his opening round, which included an eagle on the 492-yard seventh hole. In round two, Dawson birdied the second hole and shot seven-over.

Meanwhile, Gaetz birdied the seventh and 15th holes in round one as he finished at five-over. In round two, Gaetz shot 10-over and birdied the third and sixth holes. 

Playing as individuals, Austin Williams is in 51st place at 17-over, while Brant Kardatzke is in 74th place at 23-over. Williams shot 11-over in his opening round and was six-over in his second round. Williams birdied the second hole in the second round. 

Kardatzke shot eight-over in his opening round, with birdies on the eighth and 10th holes, and was 15-over in round two.
