Lady Senators fall to Volunteer State and Roane State in TCCAA/Region 7 Tournament

CHATTANOOGA, TN - Walters State saw their season come to an end on Tuesday in the TCCAA/Region 7 Tournament, falling 14-4 to Volunteer State and 8-4 to Roane State.
With the losses, the Lady Senators closed the season at 31-21.
GAME ONE: Volunteer State 14, Walters State 4 (6 Innings)
In game one, the Lady Senators were up 4-2 after four innings but Volunteer State scored nine in the fifth and three in the sixth to take the win.
At the plate, Brooklyn Copley drove in two runs, while Lauren Ruehl had two hits. Olivia Neese and Kendal Mason had an RBI each, as well.
In the circle, Summer Smith got the start and threw two innings. Smith allowed two runs on two hits. Emma Myatt threw 3.1 innings, allowing eight runs, four earned, on four hits. Lauren Ruehl also threw 0.2 innings, allowing four runs on five hits.
Volunteer State got on the board first with two runs in the top of the third, but Walters State answered with three runs of their own in the bottom half of the inning. Mason got things started with an RBI double to score Neese and moved to third on back-to-back walks to Randi Delong and Jaelyn McDaniel. That brought up Copley, and she singled to score two runs and give Walters State a 3-2 lead.
In the fourth, the Lady Senators increased their lead to 4-2 as Neese scored Brenna Hunley on a fielder's choice. However, Volunteer State scored nine in the fifth and three in the sixth to end the game early.
GAME TWO: Roane State 8, Walters State 4
In game two, the Lady Senators weren't able to muster a late-inning comeback and fell to end the season.
At the plate in game two, Ruehl added two more hits and drove in three runs while Copley and Neese each collected two hits.
In the circle, Summer Smith threw 4.1 innings, allowing five runs, two earned, on four hits. Ruehl threw an inning as well, allowing three runs, one earned on one hit. Makayla Ramsey threw the final 1.2 innings for the Lady Senators, giving up just one hit and striking out one.
Roane State scored two runs in the top of the first to break out to an early lead, but Walters State scored three in the bottom half of the inning on a groundout by Copley that scored a run and a two-RBI single from Ruehl that gave the Lady Senators a 3-2 lead.
Roane State took the lead back at 5-3 with three runs in the second, but Ruehl cut the lead to 5-4 in the third with an RBI single. However, Roane State scored three in the sixth and held on for the win.
