All 12 score in No. 17 Walters State’s 110-70 win over Chattanooga State
MORRISTOWN, TN – All 12 players that played on Wednesday for No. 17 Walters State scored, and the Senators took a 110-70 win over Chattanooga State.
With the victory, the Senators improved to 10-0 on the season and 5-0 in TCCAA play.
Da'Mori Lytch and Carter Webb led the way for Walters State in the game, both finishing with 18 points. Jamar Livingston added 16 points, all coming in the second half, and Malaki Brooks finished with 12 points.
Other scorers for the Senators were Taquez Butler with nine points, Jaquavious Wallace with eight points, Jayden Nesbitt with seven points, Caiden Bauldwin with six points, Tyrese Stovall with six points, Trae Rideau with four points, Jaceion Coffey with three points and Mou Riiny with three points.
Walters State started out on fire, breaking out to a 12-3 lead thanks to three points each by Nesbitt and Butler and two each from Lytch, Rideau and Stovall. Chattanooga State broke the run with a three, but Webb took over with nine points during a 15-0 run. Wallace scored four during the run, as well, and the Senators led 27-6.
Chattanooga State scored seven straight to get back into the game, but Webb wasn't done as he scored four more to make it 31-13. Webb hit one more three in the half to make it 36-15, and Lytch scored nine points in the final four minutes of the opening half to give Walters State a 51-24 advantage at the break.
In the second half, Chattanooga State scored the first four points, but Walters State responded with the next 12 points to go up 63-28. During the run, Lytch had an offensive rebound and putback, Butler had a slam, Nesbitt scored, Livingston scored and Lytch drilled a 3-pointer from the corner.
From there, free throws were the name of the game as Livingston would hit 10 in the final 20 minutes of the game. Walters State led 80-51 with 7:45 to go following a 3-pointer by Coffey, and the lead was 86-56 after four straight points from Wallace. Bauldwin and Riiny would score in the final minutes of the game, and Walters State went on for the big win.
