Lady Senators pick up wins over Southwest Virginia, Patrick & Henry

CEDAR BLUFF, VA – Walters State picked up their first two wins of the season on Saturday afternoon, taking down Southwest Virginia 3-1 (19-25, 25-22, 25-21, 25-22) and Patrick & Henry 3-0 (25-16, 25-9, 25-19). 

With the wins, the Lady Senators improved to 2-4 on the season.

Veda Barton led the way for Walters State in both matches. Against Southwest Virginia, Barton had 13 kills and six digs. In the win over Patrick & Henry, Barton had 12 kills, two blocks and five digs. 

Along with Barton, Davanie Tarleton had 12 kills and three blocks against Southwest Virginia and seven kills and two blocks against Patrick & Henry. Trudi Aiken also played very well in both matches, totaling 16 digs, 40 assists and two aces against Southwest Virginia and had 24 assists, one ace and nine digs against Patrick & Henry. 

Other contributors against Southwest Virginia were Lilabeth Jordan with 24 digs and an ace, Kara Coggins with nine kills and two blocks and Mykanna McMahon with 14 digs. 

Against Patrick & Henry, other contributors included Jordan with nine digs and three aces and Preslee Quertermous had five kills and five digs.
