WILMINGTON, NC – Walters State closed out their time at the Cape Fear Invitational on Saturday, falling to Lake-Sumter and St. Johns River College.
The Lady Senators fell in an extremely competitive match to Lake-Sumter 3-2 (12-25, 25-23, 25-21, 21-25, 15-8) before falling 3-0 to St. Johns River (25-18, 25-18, 25-13).
With the losses, the Lady Senators fell to 3-3 on the season.
In the loss to Lake-Sumter, Lauren Mims led the way with 20 digs and 10 kills while Jaci Drinnon had 35 digs. Alyssa Campbell added 10 kills and two blocks, and Catherine Sweeney had nine kills and three blocks. Olivia Brown totaled 23 assists while Allison Singleton had 22.
Against St Johns, Mims and Mattie Davis each had eight kills. Mims had 10 digs as well while Davis had three blocks. Drinnon added 16 digs.
Up Next:
Walters State will be back in action on Tuesday for their home opener against Southwest Virginia. The match is scheduled to start at 6:30 p.m.
